Job Description: Network Field Engineer
Position Overview:
The Network Field Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support, ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems on-site, in order to meet the company's connectivity and performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
2. Conduct network troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, ensuring minimum downtime and optimal performance.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions that align with business objectives and security standards.
4. Conduct site surveys and assess network requirements for new installations or upgrades.
5. Monitor network performance and make recommendations for improvements to enhance overall network efficiency.
6. Ensure network security measures are in place, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.
7. Document network configurations, changes, and maintenance procedures to maintain accurate system records.
8. Respond to network-related incidents and provide timely resolution in compliance with service level agreements.
9. Assist in the development of network policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure network reliability and availability.
10. Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering to provide innovative solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or a related position.
3. In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, MPLS, and VLANs.
4. Strong understanding of network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
5. Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network equipment from various vendors, such as Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto.
6. Experience with network monitoring tools, packet analyzers, and network diagnostic utilities.
7. Familiarity with network security principles, including access control, authentication, and encryption.
8. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex network issues.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
10. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
